How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind when trying to perform tasks that would have otherwise needed utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this specific machinery make it the best alternative for completing tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted in the lift's base. These batteries need to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any specialized tools or equipment and requires no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the machinery next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button located in the basket of the lift, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Usually, older units would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord must next be plugged into the charger. Be sure to charge in a well ventilated area and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger can likely occur.
