Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places orderly and to store pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck can be used. The reach truck comes in several types: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is similar to the stand-up, is usually utilized. This particular version consists of telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This model is best in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
In nearly all warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and could maximize available storage space while increasing production.
